«El lindo don Diego» is the farce of the Spanish playwright Agustín Moreto, published by Taurus in hardback (173 pages, in Spanish).
A Golden Age farce set in 17th-century Spain. Its protagonist, don Diego, is a vain and conceited man whose behaviour causes misunderstandings and comic situations; the dialogues, witty and lively, belong to the tradition of classical Spanish theatre.
The work was originally published in 1662. This Taurus edition (1983) belongs to the Temas de España collection and includes a preliminary study, edition and notes by María Grazia Profeti.
Recommended for readers of classical Spanish theatre, literature students and fans of Golden Age farces.
Agustín Moreto y Cavana, was a Spanish Catholic priest and dramatist.
