He was born in Naples, Italy, on 13 August 1951, and emigrated with his family to Colombia as a child.
He studied Psychology at the Pontifical Bolivarian University in Medellín and went on to do postgraduate work in cognitive therapy.
He published Think Well, Feel Well in 1990, his first widely circulated book in Spanish.
Loving or Depending? (1999) has become an international reference on emotional dependence, with dozens of reprints.
He lives between Bogotá and Barcelona, combining clinical practice with courses and lectures on love and self-esteem.
