Madrid novelist, translator and columnist, author of A Heart So White, Tomorrow in the Battle Think on Me and the Your Face Tomorrow trilogy.
He published his first novel, The Dominions of the Wolf, at the age of 19.
From 2008 he held seat 'R' of the Real Academia Española.
He inherited the mock title of 'King of Redonda' and granted noble titles to writers such as Pedro Almodóvar and J. M. Coetzee.
He wrote a weekly column for El País Semanal for more than 25 years.
He died in Madrid in 2022 from pneumonia, leaving a new novel unfinished.
