«Y las montañas hablaron» is the contemporary fiction novel by Khaled Hosseini, published by Salamandra in hardback (384 pages, in Spanish).
In an Afghan village, a peasant family gives their daughter to a wealthy marriage. That decision sets off a choral story that follows the siblings, their descendants, and other characters over decades, in settings such as Kabul, Paris, Tinos, and San Francisco. Love, courage, betrayal, and sacrifice intertwine from 1952 to the present.
The novel was originally published in English as And the Mountains Echoed in 2012; the Spanish translation is by Rita da Costa García and Patricia Antón de Vez Ayala-Duarte.
It is aimed at readers of literary and family fiction, with an interest age of 16 and up; it is also cited in reading clubs.
