He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on 24 August 1977.
He studied English literature and theology at Kenyon College.
Together with his brother Hank Green he launched the YouTube channel Vlogbrothers in 2007.
The Fault in Our Stars (2012) spent more than a year at number one on the New York Times young adult bestseller list.
His educational series Crash Course offers thousands of free videos on history, science and literature.
