«Suite francesa» is the historical novel by Irène Némirovsky, published by Salamandra Bolsillo in paperback (480 pages, in Spanish).
Set in France during the Second World War, the novel opens with the exodus from Paris as the Germans approach and follows families fleeing amid bombings. It then depicts the occupation in a village, where relations with the invaders mix hatred, collaboration and clandestine love stories.
Originally published in 2004, it received the Prix Renaudot. Irène Némirovsky conceived the work in five parts and only managed to write two. Translation by José Antonio Soriano Marco.

Irène Némirovsky was a novelist of Ukrainian Jewish origin who was born in Kiev, then in the Russian Empire. She lived more than half her life in France and wrote in French, but was denied French nationality. Arrested as a Jew under the racial laws – which did not take into account her conversion to Roman Catholicism – she died in Auschwitz at the age of 39. Némirovsky is best known for the posthumously published Suite française.
