«Suite francesa» is the historical novel by Irène Némirovsky, published by Salamandra Bolsillo in paperback (480 pages, in Spanish).
It narrates the exodus from Paris before the German invasion of 1940: thousands of people flee by road while moving and grotesque scenes unfold. Then, in an occupied town, coexistence with the Germans unleashes hatred, collaborationism and clandestine loves. Conceived in five parts, the author only wrote two.
Originally published in 2004, it was awarded the Prix Renaudot posthumously. The translation is by José Antonio Soriano Marco. Edition from the Salamandra Campañas collection.
For readers of historical fiction and narrative about the Second World War, from 16 years old.

Irène Némirovsky was a novelist of Ukrainian Jewish origin who was born in Kiev, then in the Russian Empire. She lived more than half her life in France and wrote in French, but was denied French nationality. Arrested as a Jew under the racial laws – which did not take into account her conversion to Roman Catholicism – she died in Auschwitz at the age of 39. Némirovsky is best known for the posthumously published Suite française.
