«Las noches con Claudia» is the novel by Álvaro Otero, published by Inprovides Atlantico, S.L. in paperback (679 pages, in Spanish).
A summer in the late 1970s, in a small village in Galicia, the arrival of Claudia, a young Cuban woman who dances the son with the mayor, alters the neighbours' routine. The men desire her and almost all the women reject her; her presence coincides with strange events that lead to a story of humour, sensuality and tension between repression and modernity.
The novel is structured in short linked scenes, in the manner of soap operas, and was originally published in 2013.
It will appeal to readers of Spanish fiction who appreciate rural settings and echoes of Cuban culture.
