«La vida es sueño» is a play by Pedro Calderón de la Barca, published by Sansy Ediciones in paperback (178 pages, in Spanish).
The play interweaves two stories: that of Segismundo, a prince imprisoned by his father, King Basilio, and that of Rosaura, who arrives in Poland to restore her honour. The protagonist confronts the limits between freedom and destiny in a world that is revealed as a dream. Written in polymetric verse, it combines philosophical reflection, intrigue and monologues.
Composed in 1635, this edition was published in 2012 within the collection El Jardín de los Clásicos.
Suitable for literature students and readers who want to approach a classic of Spanish Baroque theatre.
Spanish Golden Age playwright, author of Life Is a Dream, The Mayor of Zalamea and many autos sacramentales.
