«Crónicas do Envelhecer» is the essay by Joaquim Manuel Pinto Serra, published by Mar da Palavra in paperback (176 pages, in Portuguese).
The author uses chess as a mirror of life, especially of older people, whom society already labels as «seniores». In their climb towards social exclusion, these people notice the advances and retreats of the most influential pieces, in a reflection that combines personal experience and a social view of ageing.
The publication date is 1 March 2017 and the book falls into the health and wellbeing category.
For those seeking a reflective read on old age and the place of older people in society.
