«Aguirre, el magnífico» is the biographical novel by Manuel Vicent, published by Círculo de Lectores in hardback (254 pages, in Spanish).
Manuel Vicent reconstructs the figure of Jesús Aguirre, eighteenth Duke of Alba, as an Iberian altarpiece: through memory, the novel spans half a century of Spanish history and shows him among theologians, writers, politicians and aristocrats, with the passions and failures of a generation that went from clandestinity to palaces.
For readers interested in recent Spanish history, social and political chronicle and biographical fiction.
