«Vivons heureux en attendant la mort» is a book of humorous essays by Pierre Desproges, published by Seuil in paperback (185 pages, in French).
Desproges turns his recurring obsessions —hairdressers, taxi drivers, sex, suicide, racism, youth— into material for sharp, often cynical humour. The central theme is death: he de-dramatises it, plays with it and desacralises it until he shows that one can live happily while waiting.
The work was originally published in 1983. This paperback edition appeared in December 1997.
For fans of dark, irreverent humour and satire, as well as readers interested in French literature of the 1980s.
