«Dictionnaire superflu à l'usage de l'élite et des bien nantis» is Pierre Desproges's satirical dictionary, a paperback (144 pages, in French).
Desproges parodies the dictionary format by choosing one entry per letter with paradoxical and corrosive definitions. Among common nouns, proper names and Latin phrases, the author combines provocation, wordplay and social criticism to dismantle preconceived ideas, with his characteristic black humour.
