«Un monstruo en mi país» is the children's play by Rodrigo Muñoz Avia, published by Anaya Infantil y Juvenil in paperback (96 pages, in Spanish).
Jaime, a monster, wakes up one morning turned into an eight-year-old human child. His world rejects him for his new appearance, even his parents, but he finds company in Samuel, an albino monster, and Adrián, a foreign monster, also marginalized. The play speaks of identity, tolerance, and looking beyond appearances.
Winner of the 2014 SGAE Prize for Children's Theatre and Rodrigo Muñoz Avia's first play. It belongs to the Sopa de Libros (Teatro) collection and features illustrations by Chema García.
Recommended for child readers aged 9 to 10 and for those approaching theatre for the first time.
