«Un cadàver exquisit» is the historical novel by Jordi Mata, published by Edicions 62 in hardback (312 pages, in Catalan).
In 1698, Charles II, king of a vast empire in decline, still has no heir and the European powers wait in tension. In Catalonia, supporters of the House of Austria and those of Philip V of Bourbon clash while agents of each side move their pieces; the future of the continent and the defeat of 1714 depend on that choice.
The book belongs to the El Balancí collection; its original edition dates from 1 March 2008 and is written in Catalan.
Aimed at a general audience interested in historical fiction and courtly intrigues in the Europe of the Spanish succession.
