«Purgatorio» is Jon Sistiaga's first novel, a thriller about the Basque conflict published by Plaza & Janés in paperback (416 pages, in Spanish).
Josu Etxebeste, a hotelier from Guipúzcoa, confesses to the kidnapping and murder of Imanol Azkarate, committed 35 years ago, and hands over to his daughter the letters and drawings from the captivity. The confession demands that Commissioner Ignacio Sánchez, who investigated the case, admit to having tortured. Former militants of the organization will try to keep that truth from coming to light.
The work was published in 2022 within the Éxitos collection. Jon Sistiaga, journalist and investigative reporter, has been awarded the Ondas and Ortega y Gasset prizes.
For readers of crime fiction, political thrillers and stories about the Basque conflict and its aftermath.
