«Politique» is the novel by Adam Thirlwell, published by Éditions de l'Olivier in paperback (320 pages, in French).
Set in present-day London, the narrative interweaves a father and his daughter with a love triangle of two girls and a boy. In a comic vein, it reflects on sexual etiquette, intimacy and kindness, with digressions on Kundera, Mao, consumerism, royalty, Bollywood or Gramsci's theory. Despite the title, politics is not the subject.
Novel by British author Adam Thirlwell, translated from English by Marc Cholodenko; this French edition was published in 2004.
