She was born in Hartford, Connecticut, on 24 December 1973.
She studied English literature at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.
She says the idea for Twilight came to her in a dream on the night of 2 June 2003.
The first book in the saga was published in 2005 and the series produced five film adaptations.
She served as executive producer on the Twilight films and on the adaptation of her novel The Host.
