«Poema de Fernán González» is the anonymous medieval epic poem edited by Juan Victorio, published by Ediciones Cátedra in paperback.
The poem presents Fernán González as the ideal lord whom all his vassals follow, and describes society and the ruler as a utopian model, in contrast to the «Cantar del Mio Cid». This edition restores the isosyllabism, damaged by copyists, and reconstructs lost stanzas from the prose of the Primera Crónica General.
Letras Hispánicas collection, no. 151. First edition 1984; 200 pages in Spanish, format 11 x 18 cm.
Recommended for students of medieval literature and readers interested in Castilian epic poetry.
