In 'País de faula', Dario Fo invites us to explore the world of his childhood and adolescence. Through his memories, he transports us to northern Italy, near the border with Switzerland, a meeting place for diverse people and narratives that merge reality and fiction. The story begins with the birth of the author and guides us through his childhood years, his adolescence, the trauma of World War II, and his studies at the art academy. With irony and humor, Fo recreates the experiences, the country, and the era that shaped his vision of the world and art, as well as his civic stance. This book is a colorful, fresh, incisive, and ultimately memorable self-portrait.

Dario Luigi Angelo Fo was an Italian playwright, actor, theatre director, stage designer, songwriter, political campaigner for the Italian left wing and the recipient of the 1997 Nobel Prize in Literature. In his time he was "arguably the most widely performed contemporary playwright in world theatre". Much of his dramatic work depends on improvisation and comprises the recovery of "illegitimate" forms of theatre, such as those performed by giullari and, more famously, the ancient Italian style of commedia dell'arte.
