«Martín Fierro» is the Argentine epic poem by José Hernández, published by Bruguera in paperback (383 pages, in Spanish).
Comprising «El Gaucho Martín Fierro» and «La Vuelta de Martín Fierro», it narrates in verse the misfortunes of a gaucho forced to enlist in the frontier militias; after deserting, he becomes an outlaw. It blends the lyrical, the satirical and the epic, expressing the feelings and aspirations of the gaucho in the second half of the 19th century.
1974 edition, 3rd edition, with a preliminary study, notes and bibliography by Ángeles Cardona de Gibert. Part of Bruguera's Libro Clásico collection (no. 7).
