«Manuale di sopravvivenza per psico-pazienti» is the mental health manual by Giorgio Nardone (Ponte alle Grazie, paperback, 173 pages, Italian).
Giorgio Nardone, a therapist, writes from the patient's side to explore what psychiatry and psychotherapy have to offer. With an ironic yet rigorous tone, he combines tragicomic anecdotes, exemplary cases and scientific reflections that map out the most common traps for anyone seeking psychological help, and guides towards a more informed choice of therapist.
Published in 1994, it is part of the «Manuali» collection from Ponte alle Grazie and includes bibliographic references (pages 149-163).
Suitable for patients and readers who want to orient themselves before choosing a psychotherapist and understand the risks of mental health treatment.

Giorgio Nardone is the Director of the Post Graduate School of Brief Strategic Psychotherapy, located in Arezzo, Italy and of the School of Managerial Training in Communication and Strategic Problem Solving, located in Arezzo and also in Florence, Italy. He is the co-founder, along with Paul Watzlawick, of the Centro di Terapia Strategica where he conducts work as a psychotherapist, professor, and researcher. He has authored and co-authored close to 27 publications, including many of his books which have translated from Italian into English, Spanish, French, Russian, and Japanese.
