Los papeles de agua is the novel by Antonio Gala, published by Booket in paperback (464 pages, in Spanish).
The protagonist, Asunción Moreno, reinvents herself as the writer Deyanira Alarcón, who succeeds until one of her novels fails. She then settles in Venice, where she fills notebooks to reconcile with a life she feels she has not lived. The book is presented as the personal confession of a woman who tries to survive through writing after renouncing superficial literature.
