«Le confessioni di un italiano» is the historical novel by Ippolito Nievo, published by Mondadori for schools in paperback (346 pages, in Italian).
The octogenarian Carlo Altoviti reviews his own existence, from childhood at the Castle of Fratta to maturity marked by illness and London exile. The history of Italy is interwoven with his personal journey, with the figure of the passionate Pisana, in a portrait of nineteenth-century Italian society.
Work published posthumously in 1867 under the original title «Le confessioni di un ottuagenario». This 1992 school edition, edited by Mirella Zocchi, is the third.
For secondary school students approaching the classics of Italian literature in their original language.
Ippolito Nievo was an Italian writer, journalist and patriot. His Confessions of an Italian is widely considered the most important novel about the Italian Risorgimento.
