«Las trece en punto» is the children's picture book by James Stimson, published by Kalandraka in hardback (40 pages, in Spanish).
One ordinary night, an old clock strikes thirteen, and that extra chime releases monsters and ghosts who wreak havoc at a little girl's expense. The story relies on dark, cinematic illustrations, typography that comes to life, and onomatopoeia, with a visual language close to American comics.
Originally published as «Thirteen O'Clock»; this Spanish edition, translated by Silvia Pérez Tato, appeared in 2007.
Aimed at early readers, though its eccentric humour and bold graphic approach also win over adults.
