La silla del águila

Synopsis of La silla del águila

«La silla del águila» is a political thriller novel by Carlos Fuentes, published by Alfaguara in paperback (384 pages, in Spanish).

In 2020 Mexico loses its telecommunications, and the fight for the presidency is told through ministers' letters. Ambition for the presidential chair corrupts all loyalty: fathers against sons, wives against husbands, secretaries against presidents. Crimes, espionage and extortion, and a candidate who reappears, complete the portrait of power.

Published in April 2003, it belongs to Alfaguara's Hispánica collection and was awarded the San Clemente Prize 2005.

Aimed at adult readers of political thrillers and those seeking a critical look at power in Mexican narrative.
