«La orilla oscura» is the novel by José María Merino, published by Círculo de Lectores in hardback (307 pages, in Spanish).
A university professor perceives the everyday world in a disquieting way. Memory, dream and evocation mix with his American experience and childhood narratives; a river journey through the jungle leads him to the dark shore, where the real and the imaginary merge in the search for his identity.
It belongs to the Nueva Narrativa Española collection. Work awarded the Premio de la Crítica de Narrativa Castellana.
For readers of contemporary Spanish fiction interested in reflection on memory, dream and identity.
