«Historias del Kronen» is the contemporary novel by José Ángel Mañas, published by Booket in paperback format (272 pages, in Spanish).
Carlos, a student from a well-off family who has not yet turned twenty-one, lives the night as a succession of excesses: sex, alcohol, drugs, and lack of scruples. His contempt for work, the weak, and women drags him into a spiral of destruction. The work portrays a generation and became an icon of its time.
The work was originally published in 1994, was a finalist for the Premio Nadal, and was adapted into film by Montxo Armendáriz.
For readers of contemporary Spanish fiction and for those seeking a generational portrait of the nineties.
José Ángel Mañas is a Spanish writer. Mañas is often included as a member of the generation of neorealist Spanish writers from the 1990s, along with Juan Gracia, Gabriela Bustelo, Ray Loriga and Lucía Etxebarria. His books have been translated into several languages.
