«Réquiem por un campesino español» is the short novel by Ramón J. Sender, published by Destino in paperback (104 pages, in Spanish).
The priest of an Aragonese village, Mosén Millán, waits to officiate the funeral of Paco «el del Molino», a young man he has seen grow up. While waiting, his memory reconstructs Paco's life and the tragic outcome of the Civil War: the priest's mediation, intended to protect him, does not prevent the young man from being handed over to his executioners.
It is volume 15 of the Destinolibro Collection. The work first appeared in 1953 under the title Mosén Millán.
It will interest readers of twentieth-century Spanish literature and those studying the Civil War in the classroom.
