«Futurs sans avenir» is a collection of science fiction short stories by Jacques Sternberg, in Livre de Poche paperback (414 pages, in French).
In response to seemingly innocuous questions, Sternberg imagines dead-end futures: controlled societies, space travel, and companies exploiting Mars. An alien observes humans, a couple travels eight months through space, and two castaways reach a dangerous planet. Satire, absurdity, and disillusionment run through the stories.
It is number 7017 in the Livre de Poche collection. The work was originally published in 1971; this edition is from 1979.
For science fiction readers who appreciate satire and disillusionment, with short stories set in futuristic settings and a critical view of society.
Jacques Sternberg was a French-language writer of science fiction and fantastique.
