«El lobo de arena» is a children's story by Åsa Lind, illustrated by María Elina Méndez, published by Kalandraka in hardback (112 pages, in Spanish).
Zackarina lives in a house by the sea with her parents. During a summer when she is not allowed to bathe alone, she finds the Sand Wolf on the beach, a curious companion who converses with the waves. Their encounters give rise to reflections on friendship, solitude and the incomprehension of adults, with a realistic and imaginative tone.
«El lobo de arena» opens the Sandvargen series. The original Swedish work is from 2002 and won the Nils Holgersson Prize 2003. The Spanish translation is by Mónica Corral Frías and Martín Lexell.
Recommended for readers aged 8 and up, with a background that also invites adults to reflect.
