«El bosque sonriente» is a satirical collection of prose and verse by Alfonso Ussía, published by Ediciones B in paperback (448 pages, in Spanish).
It brings together prose and verse that reflect contemporary Spain and its public figures with irony. In one piece, a political leader shuts himself in the Basque Parliament: he announces a hunger strike but carries striking luggage, arousing suspicion among those around him. Topical satire and a portrait of customs.
The record places it in the Byblos collection of Ediciones B, number 1381/1, with a publication date of 2004.
For readers fond of political satire and Spanish humour about customs, with short texts that work as chronicles of current affairs.
Alfonso de Ussía y Muñoz-Seca was a Spanish writer and journalist.
