«Como vana sombra» is the novel of manners by Jane Hervey, published by Alba Editorial in hardback (264 pages, in Spanish).
The death of Colonel Alfred Winthorpe brings together his widow, children, granddaughter and daughters-in-law at Otterley Hall for the funeral. No one admits that the event is a relief after years of despotism; all take refuge in ceremony and absurd routines until the reading of the will hints at a possible liberation.
Translation by Daniel de la Rubia Ortí. Number 31 in the Rara Avis collection. Publication date: 2 November 2016.
Readers of classic fiction who appreciate family portraits with irony and dry humour.
