D. E. Stevenson was born in Edinburgh in 1892 and belonged to the famous family of lighthouse engineers.

She was a second cousin of the celebrated author Robert Louis Stevenson.

She began writing her own stories at the early age of eight.

She published over 40 light romantic novels throughout a prolific four-decade career.

Beyond her passion for writing, she was a keen golfer during her holidays in North Berwick.
