«Autobiografía de Federico Sánchez» is Jorge Semprún's autobiographical novel, published by Planeta in hardback (342 pages, in Spanish).
Jorge Semprún recreates his militancy in the Communist Party of Spain under the war name Federico Sánchez and his clandestine activity against Francoism. The narrative does not follow a chronological order; it combines personal memories, quotations and political analysis to portray the evolution of communism, memory and the identity of one who took part in the resistance.
It won the Planeta Prize in 1977. The first edition dates from 1977 and the work has been subsequently reissued.
For readers interested in historical memory, the anti-Francoist struggle and Jorge Semprún's political career.

Jorge Semprún Maura was a Spanish writer and politician who lived in France most of his life and wrote primarily in French. From 1953 to 1962, during the dictatorship of Francisco Franco, Semprún lived clandestinely in Spain working as an organizer for the exiled Communist Party of Spain, but was expelled from the party in 1964. After the death of Franco and the change to a democratic government, he served as Minister of Culture in Spain's socialist government from 1988 to 1991.
