«Al volver la esquina» is the contemporary novel by Carmen Laforet, published by Ediciones Destino in hardback (288 pages, in Spanish).
A bohemian painter in search of meaning lets himself be swept along by old romantic feelings and ends up sharing his life with an extravagant, frivolous family. A girl who was only meant to accompany him on a two-day trip becomes part of that strange family setup. Nostalgia, love, jealousy and friendship run through a hedonistic, colourful world in the grey Spanish postwar period.
Written in the 1970s and published posthumously in 2004, it belongs to the Áncora & Delfín collection (no. 1001) and continues the unfinished trilogy «Tres pasos fuera del tiempo» begun with «La insolación».
For readers of contemporary Spanish fiction and of Carmen Laforet's work, especially those who already know «Nada» or «La insolación».

Carmen Laforet was a Spanish author who wrote in the period after the Spanish Civil War. She received the Premio Nadal in 1944.
