Dorothy Garlock was born in Texas and built a prolific literary career with over 300 published works.
Her writing career began in 1976, after working for fourteen years as a bookkeeper and columnist for a local newspaper.
With over 20 million copies in print worldwide, her success as a novelist came as a complete surprise to her.
Beyond her literary work, she was selected as the Outstanding Western writer in 1986.
Although born in Texas, she considered Clear Lake, Iowa, her true home after moving there in 1955.
