«Yo y el imbécil» is the children's novel by Elvira Lindo, published by Editorial Alfaguara in hardback (211 pages, in Spanish).
Manolito Gafotas narrates in a humorous vein the scrapes and adventures with his little brother, whom he calls «el Imbécil»: although he doesn't always put up with him, he recognises that he is essential to his life. When their grandfather has surgery, the children stay with neighbour Luisa, who dresses and combs them; despite the change of image, they soon get into double trouble.
Sixth instalment of the Manolito Gafotas series, with illustrations by Emilio Urberuaga; originally published in 1999.
