«Uomini ex: Lo strano destino di un gruppo di comunisti italiani» is the novel by Giuseppe Fiori, published by Einaudi in paperback (186 pages, in Italian).
In the late 1940s, a group of Italian communist partisans goes into exile in Prague to escape their country's justice. From their testimonies, Fiori recreates their lives in communist Czechoslovakia, their work at Oggi in Italia and Radio Prague, and their difficult relationship with real socialism until the Soviet invasion of 1968.
It appeared in 1993 in the Gli struzzi collection (no. 446) and won the Premio Napoli that same year.
A work for readers of Italian fiction and for anyone wishing to approach the political history of twentieth-century Europe.
