«Une affaire intime» is the novel by Max Gallo, published by Livre de poche in paperback (472 pages, in French).
Daniel Salmon, a screenwriter, leaves his wife Laure and settles in a town in the south of France to write. The apparent calm hides a crime; his newcomer's gaze and his solitude make him an uncomfortable witness who wants to uncover the truth, even if it puts him in danger.
The work, subtitled «Boulevard des Assassins: chronique d'un hiver dans une ville du Sud», was adapted into film as «Boulevard des Assassins».
For readers of mystery novels and French literature in its original version.
