«The Picture of Dorian Gray» is Oscar Wilde's gothic novel, published by Alma Classics in paperback (288 pages, in English).
Young and handsome Dorian Gray poses for a portrait by the painter Basil Hallward, but it is the hedonistic Lord Henry Wotton who convinces him that beauty and youth are the only things worth having. Dorian then wishes that the picture would age in his place and, as he gives himself over to a life of excess, the painted face gradually reflects the marks of his conscience and moral decay, in a reinterpretation of the Faust myth, with his only full-length novel.
Annotated edition from the Evergreens collection by Alma Classics. Originally published on 1 April 2015, although some sources date the edition to 2014.

Oscar Fingal O'Fflahertie Wills Wilde was an Irish author, poet and playwright. After writing in different literary styles throughout the 1880s, he became one of the most popular and influential dramatists in London in the early 1890s. He was a key figure in the emerging Aestheticism movement of the late 19th century and is widely regarded as the greatest playwright of the Victorian era. Wilde is best known for his Gothic novel The Picture of Dorian Gray (1890), his epigrams, plays and bedtime stories for children, as well as his criminal conviction in 1895 for gross indecency and for practicing homosexual acts.
