«The Little Red Hen / La Gallinita Roja» is the bilingual children's story by Carol Ottolenghi, in paperback (32 pages, in English and Spanish).
The little red hen finds grains of wheat and asks her friends —the dog, the pig, and the cow— for help planting, harvesting, and making bread, but they all refuse. When the freshly baked bread gives off its aroma, the same friends come eager to eat, and she must decide whether to share the fruit of her work. Text in English and Spanish presented side by side, with illustrations.
Part of the Keepsake Stories collection of classic bilingual tales. Includes illustrations by Reggie Holladay.
Recommended for children from preschool to third grade, especially useful for strengthening reading in English and Spanish.
