«Sultana» is the testimonial account of Saudi princess Sultana, written by Jean Sasson and published by Debolsillo in paperback (272 pages, in Spanish).
A true account of a woman born into the opulence of the Saudi royal family who, despite her wealth, had no freedom over her own life. Sultana describes the oppression suffered by women in her country —forced marriages, abuse and arbitrary sentences— and the courage needed to defy traditions that kept her prisoner.
First volume of the «Princess Trilogy», translated by María Millán. Original work published in 1993: «Princess: A True Story of Life Behind Veil in Saudi Arabia».
Will appeal to readers of memoirs and testimonies, and to those seeking a critical look at the condition of women in the Arab world.
Jean P. Sasson is an American writer whose work mainly centers around women in the Middle East.
