«Ser madre» is the child psychology essay by Rudolph Schaffer, published by Ediciones Morata in paperback (190 pages, in Spanish).
Schaffer analyses motherhood as a complex experience: is it physical care, an attitude, a stimulation, or a reciprocal and synchronised activity with the child? He examines the influence of the first bond on later emotional life and questions the scope of the so-called maternal instinct, highlighting the newborn's active role in the relationship.
It belongs to the Bruner Series of the collection El desarrollo en el niño. The cover indicates the fifth edition.
A reference work for professionals and academics in child psychology and for readers interested in child development and family relationships.
