«Ross Poldark» is the first novel in Winston Graham's Poldark saga, published by Pan in paperback (471 pages, in English).
Ross Poldark returns to Cornwall after fighting in the American war and finds his world in ruins: his father has died, the family property is derelict, and the woman he loves is engaged to his cousin. His involvement with the ruined miners and farmers of the district leads him to rescue a malnourished young woman during a fight at a fair, a gesture that will change his destiny and that of the saga.
First instalment of the Poldark series, set in eighteenth-century Cornwall. Edition linked to the BBC adaptation based on the novel.
For readers of historical novels and family sagas, as well as for those who discovered the story through the BBC television series.

Winston Mawdsley Graham OBE, born Winston Grime, was an English novelist best known for the Poldark series of historical novels set in Cornwall, though he also wrote numerous other works, including contemporary thrillers, period novels, short stories, non-fiction and plays. Graham was the author's pseudonym until he changed his name by deed poll from Grime to Graham on 7 May 1947.
