In the heart of Havana in 1989, Lieutenant Mario Conde faces a mysterious and urgent case: the disappearance of Rafael Morín, a high-ranking official from the Ministry of Industries and a former classmate. As Conde investigates, he delves into Morín's seemingly perfect past, uncovering hidden secrets and unexpected connections. This case not only challenges his skepticism but also confronts him with memories of a former love, Tamara, now married to the missing man. Through an engaging narrative, Leonardo Padura weaves a plot of intrigue and nostalgia, exploring the shadows that hide behind the facades of a society in transformation.
