«Para maiores de dezasseis» is the novel by Ana Saldanha, published by Editorial Caminho in paperback (211 pages, in Portuguese).
Dulce, a fifteen-year-old teenager who has physically transformed, attracts Eddie, a twenty-nine-year-old man. He knows the relationship is illegal and dangerous, but he feels addicted to the excitement and her adoration; Dulce, emotionally immature, uses her image to seduce him without thinking about the consequences. The novel addresses, without stereotypes, the complexity of an unequal relationship.
Published in 2009, it was recommended by the Portuguese National Reading Plan for the 3rd cycle as autonomous reading.
Aimed at young and adult readers seeking realistic fiction about unequal relationships; the title itself destines it for readers over sixteen.
