«Papel Carbón» is the novel by Francisco Romero, published by Calambur Editorial in paperback (288 pages, in Spanish).
A Madrid street sweeper with a vivid imagination finds the bullet-riddled corpse of an immigrant that the police ignore. Needing to change his life, he investigates on his own and ends up in an adventure that surpasses those of his alter ego, detective Leo Carter. Carbon paper, now obsolete, proves essential to a story hard to label.
The work, published in 2005, was awarded the VII Río Manzanares Novel Prize and belongs to the Calambur Narrativa collection (number 25).
For readers of crime fiction and contemporary fiction who value a detective plot with fantastical elements and a dreamer protagonist.
