«Nova il·lustració radical» is the philosophy essay by Marina Garcés, published by Editorial Anagrama in paperback (80 pages, in Catalan).
The essay starts from the reactionary discourses that have gained ground after the crisis and analyses them as symptoms of an anti-Enlightenment reaction: authoritarianism, fanaticism, catastrophism and terrorism. The author proposes updating the Enlightenment heritage to combat the credulities of our time and the fear and opportunism that feed them.
Fifth volume in the Nuevos cuadernos Anagrama collection. In 2018, «Nova il·lustració radical» won the Premi Ciutat de Barcelona for essay, social sciences and humanities.
For readers interested in political philosophy, critical thought and the debate on authoritarianism and the contemporary crisis of civilisation.
