Niebla (Mist) is a novel by the Spanish writer and philosopher Miguel de Unamuno, published in 1914. The work tells the story of Augusto Pérez, a well-to-do man who, after a series of encounters and romantic disappointments, questions the meaning of his existence. In his search for answers, Augusto challenges literary and philosophical conventions, questioning the relationship between the author and his characters, and exploring themes such as identity, will, and immortality. Considered one of the most important works of 20th-century Spanish literature, Niebla is a profound and original reflection on the human condition.

Miguel de Unamuno y Jugo was a Spanish essayist, novelist, poet, playwright, philosopher and academic. His major philosophical essay was Tragic Sense of Life (1913), and his most famous novels were Abel Sánchez: The History of a Passion (1917), a modern exploration of the Cain and Abel story, and Mist (1914), which The Literary Encyclopedia calls "the most acclaimed Spanish Modernist novel".
